Double Over-Time

I missed my night class last night becaus both game I officiated at went in to over time. The boys even went in to sudden victory (AKA sudden death). It was very hot and the schools usually have water for us but they didn't yesterday. But I survived and live to tell the tale.
I have never had so many parents yell at me. I will tell you one major lesson I have learned, is to not listen to the crowd. They can yell at me all they want these days (I used to turn around and give warnings or threaten to have them escorted away) I just keep on blowing my whistle when I see fit. But the other referee put it perfectly when he said "You can't say either team didn't have a chance to win. They had their chance for 7 periods!"

This goalie below is my hero. Try scoring on that wing span!

This my dear readers is a foul! It is reaching over the offense and taking away their advantage. If this took place with in 5 meters of the Cage (goal), it would be a Penalty foul-which results in a one-on-one free shot against the goalie on the 5M line.

But this, this is just a part of the game. Can I blow my whistle for this? No. Sorry, I can't see this. If that player, that is getting a readjustment to his speedo, was trying to progress the game (such as swim to receive or give a pass, or shoot) and I could see he was being held from doing so, then I can call a foul.
I hope you enjoyed a small glimpse into the wonderful world of water polo.
